Improve your team work skills with these tips!
-
Make time for “get-to-know-each-other” activities in the startup phase of a new project, and energizers and other social activities during the working process, in order to keep a positive and relaxed atmosphere, especially if the team is new and the members aren’t familiar with each other
-
Clarify the goal as early as possible during the cooperating process, to make sure that everyone has the same understanding of what you want to achieve by this cooperation, as well as having an idea of what to except from the other contributers
-
Focus on keeping an open communication, and a mutual respected working environment, in which the members can feel comfortable with sharing their thoughts, ideas, opinions and solutions. Listen carefully to what your coworkers say, ask questions to clarify when something is unclear, but avoid interrupting
-
Encourage creativity and innovation within the group. Take in consideration that all members are individuals with different viewpoints and contributions based on their background, interests, beliefs and talents. No suggestions should be turned down as “dumb ideas”
-
Make an effort to include all coworkers, both the reserved and outgoing ones, in order to make everyone feel like they’re a part of the team and the working process
-
Good team work often includes participative leadership, where the members also are held accountable, not only a dominant authority. The leader should be respected to keep things systematic, but should also be able to receive inputs from the team when improvements are needed
